We continue studying the verb “ser”. Remember that we were working on “ser” and “estar” from episode 23 on, so go back and read them all!

Here you have more cases where we always use “ser”.
Notice that all these situations change, so it’s wrong to think that we use “ser”
for permanent situations.

🧩 Descripción física: Es altísima. / She is very tall. It can change.

🧩 Orden numérico: Es la tercera película que hace este año. / It’s the third film she’s made this year. It can change.

🧩 Hora y fecha: Son las cinco y cuarto de la tarde y es domingo. / It’s five fifteen pm and it’s Sunday. It will change for sure.

🧩 Posesión: ¡Es mío! / It’s mine! It can change.

💡 TIP:

👉 If something happens in the morning, in the afternoon or in the evening, you say:

Por la mañana bebo café. In the morning, I drink coffee.
Por la tarde juego al tenis. In the afternoon, I play tennis.
Por la noche miro una película. In the evening, I watch a film.

👉 But when you want to say what time it is, you say something different:

It’s 8 am. Son las 8 de la mañana.
It’s 3 pm. Son las 3 de la tarde.
It’s 10 pm. Son las 10 de la noche.

So remember. In Spanish,
por la mañana is one thing, and
de la mañana is something else.
