El peso is the weight and pesar is to weigh. Heavy is pesado. How much do you weigh? is ¿Cuánto pesas? and the answer could be peso 60 kilos. You will find this word spelled like kilo or quilo, both are considered correct. Half a kilo is medio kilo, so you can buy medio kilo de tomates. A kilo has 1,000 grams, which are gramos, so you can also buy 300 gramos de fresas. You use scales (báscula or balanza, depending on the country), to weigh objects or people. 1,000 kilos are a ton (una tonelada). Un elefante adulto puede pesar seis toneladas.
El calzado is the footwear. This is the general word, then you can be more specific and talk about shoes, boots, sandals, etc. (zapatos, botas, sandalias, etc.). Caminar descalzo or descalza means to walk bare-footed. How much do you wear? is ¿cuánto calzas? Notice also that for socks, we say calcetines.
Medida means measure and medir is to measure. How tall are you? is ¿cuánto mides? Yo mido 1 metro 64 centímetros. This is my height (mi altura). Alto or alta means tall.
Although is more common to use centímetros, for some objects, like glass or wood, it’s very frequent to measure in inches (pulgadas). This word is connected with the thumb (el pulgar), because in the old days, people used this finger to compare and measure different things.
The word for size is tamaño, but for the clothes, we say la talla in Spain y el talle in Latin America. La talla puede ser pequeña, mediana o grande.
For distances or distancias, we use kilómetros or quilómetros. Hay 505 km de distancia entre Madrid y Barcelona.
We talk about miles (millas) only in the sea. However, these miles are longer than the land miles, they are 1,85 km long. Do not mix up milla (mile) with mil (one thousand). Remember this: 1,000 miles are mil millas.
For houses or apartments, we use the squared meters (metros cuadrados), and for land in the countryside, hectares (hectáreas).
