These rules are simple, but definitely are not like in English, so pay attention:
- When a word ends in a vowel, add an -s (un perro, dos perroS)
- When the word ends in a consonant or í/ú, add -es (un animal, dos animalES)
- When the word ends with -z, change it for -c (un pez, dos peCES)
- Finally, when a word ends with -n or -s, and before this letter you have an accentuated vowel, drop the accent in the plural (un leÓN, dos leONES)
