I started classes with Laura more than two years ago as my boyfriend is Colombian, and I wanted to be able to speak with his family and friends and be able to better understand the culture. My 10yr old son has been studying Spanish with Laura over the past couple of years. She has been excellent, and I had no hesitation in choosing Laura for my 7yr old daughter. The rapport she has built with both my children as well as the tailor-made lessons is impressive. I cannot recommend her enough.

Before I started tutoring with Laura, I was getting many C’s and B’s in Spanish now after tutoring I have achieved grade A’s. What is so good about the tutoring is the focus on the wider subject of Spanish and not only the GCSE exams as we cover other work related to the culture which helps give a deeper understanding of the language.

I’ve known Laura since 2017. She helped me attain grade 7 at GCSE Spanish in 2019, and two years later helped me achieve an A at A-level in 2021. These Spanish lessons have helped me massively to improve my Spanish and have been the key to help me succeed in my Spanish GCSE. Without these sessions I would not be in the fortunate position I am in where I firmly believe I will do well in my exam. These sessions have also helped boost my confidence when it comes to Spanish in school since Laura has explained the topics I am working on very clearly and in a way my teacher never would have. If I did not understand any topic within Spanish GCSE Laura would have a unique way in which to explain it in a way where I would understand it which has helped me a lot throughout my time at school.

I was never properly taught Spanish at school despite choosing it as one of my GCSEs. Before I went to Laura’s classes I was barely passing my exams and she helped me achieve the best grade I could’ve possibly asked for.

Laura is a fantastic teacher. I have learnt so much through her tuitions and even managed to achieve a level 9 in my GCSE 2018 thanks to her intensive care, tailoring each lesson to my specific needs. She was always able to spot my mistakes and lead me through them, thoroughly explaining where I went wrong. On a side note I was on my hospital placement the other day and had to speak to a Spanish patient before she went in for heart surgery. I took an intensive course with Laura to learn Spanish before going abroad. I was literally at point zero before we started, and after three months, with her help, I can have conversations with Spanish people and get around very easily. I am delighted that I can write a reference for Laura as she has been an exceptional and fantastic teacher. I am at an intermediate level and there were quite varying degrees of skills in the class. But Laura adopted the speed of the class so well that everyone was learning and happy. I clearly remember her standing out from a range of very skilful teachers, due to her engaging style, her way of making lessons interesting and her approach of bringing varying topics of interest into our basic lessons, to spice them up.

I decided to learn Spanish with Spanish for London after meeting a number of Spanish teachers in London. I liked Laura’s thorough and comprehensive approach to learning Spanish, her dedicated teaching space, her deep knowledge of the language and her use of multiple formats/media to teach with. Laura is a linguist by training and through our 15-lesson crash-course, Laura was able to guide me through the basics of the language but also explain ‘why’ aspects of the language were structured as they are. Although by no means fluent, I feel much further ahead and more confident with my Spanish than I did prior to the course, and would highly highly recommend Spanish for London to other prospective Spanish students.

I first came to Laura as I required a teacher who could help me improve my
Spanish from an Argentinian perspective (my husband is Argentinian). I was
really struggling with listening and understanding conversations in Spanish and
Laura and I spend a substantial portion of my lessons talking, which has really
helped me become more familiar with Argentinian Spanish and its unique
vocabulary. Laura tailors the lessons to topics of interest for me or we identify
an area where my vocabulary is limited and then focus a lesson on that
particular area. I definitely feel like my ability to communicate in Spanish with
my husband has improved and, additionally, I find it much easier to understand
conversations involving multiple people, which was always a big problem for
me before. Laura’s expertise in linguistics and language means that she
explains Spanish to me as well as teaches it. I really feel like learning with Laura
is way beyond the standard of a ‘normal’ teacher and I come away from each
class feeling I’ve moved a step closer to my goal.

I started classes with Laura around two years ago. Over several years
previously I had been intermittently learning Spanish, sometimes in evening
classes, sometimes when work made that difficult with more informal 1-1
lessons, with mixed results despite having some good teachers along the way. I
wanted to keep the flexibility of 1-1 lessons but also have a teacher who would
keep me motivated and challenged to maintain focus more than I had
previously managed. I also wanted lessons that would include some discussion
of Spanish and Latin American culture, rather than ’topic’ sheets. All of this
Laura has admirably fulfilled, and I’m now entering a third year with her.
 Initially she carried out what can be only described as a comprehensive MOT
on basics that opened up interesting dimensions to what are usually dry
‘grammar’ questions, and now I feel I have a far more sophisticated
understanding of the language-even if still making mistakes!  Her knowledge of
Spanish and Latin-American literature, but indeed English and European
literature, history and culture as well, is formidable. But lessons are often
leavened with anecdotes and humour as well. Whether you are looking for
exam focused learning or a wider understanding and learning experience, I
would highly recommend Laura and Spanish for London.

Laura has been teaching me Spanish since May 2019, when I began as a
complete beginner. Not only is Laura an enthusiastic and extremely
professional teacher, who has the deepest knowledge of the Spanish language,
but always creates lessons, which are totally engaging and interesting. Through
the use of different media and her own style, Laura delivers great variety in all
lessons: the format and structure of one lesson is never exactly the same as

Laura has been my teacher for over two years now, and I am very happy with

very adept user of Zoom.) The result is that I have been able to build a

I have really enjoyed my lessons with Spanish for London. Raúl is an excellent
teacher who makes the lessons fun and tailors the classes to my needs. I am a
sports journalist and we have done some classes focusing on vocabulary that is
useful for my work which is fantastic. I always look forward to my lessons and I

Raúl explains things very thoroughly and always makes sure that I understand

I have been studying with Laura for several years and find her to be a warm, enthusiastic, engaging and highly competent teacher. I started taking lessons with Laura half way through November to prepare for my June A-level exams. I feel like my Spanish has improved the most within this short time period. Laura taught me Spanish weekly for a period of 2 years. My speaking and writing abilities increased tremendously and I was able to formulate sentences with no hesitation after only a few months of being with her. She allowed me to have a very strong grasp of the language and I began to genuinely enjoy my Spanish lessons and I would look forward to them every week. We would also discuss some of my personal interests (in Spanish, of course!) and this allowed me to increase my abilities because of the fact I was discussing a topic I enjoyed talking about.
